Children do not have to be potty trained to attend Little Miracles.
Toilet learning will be encouraged and discussed with each family when the child is physically and mentally ready, anywhere from 20 months - 3 years old. Children that are learning how to use the toilet must be dry both at home and at the Daycare for a least 2 weeks before they can wear cloth underwear to the Daycare on a full time basis. This is for sanitary reasons as regular underwear can not contain urine and/or feces to prevent the spread of germs to the other children and myself.
When toilet training - Please dress your child in 'user-friendly' clothing as much as possible, elastic waist bands are recommend because they are so easy for children to maneuver. Please try to avoid tight fitting pants, pants with snaps, zippers or overalls. Your child will want to help pull pants and pull-ups/underwear up and down on their own, clothing with 'gadgets' makes it harder and usually results in accidents.
Sometimes putting a cloth liner inside the disposable diaper helps a child feel wetness and causes a bit of uncomfortableness because they do not like the feeling, which can result in a faster training time. Please let me know if this is something you would like to try with your child.
Children will NOT be forced to potty train when they are not ready, they will be positively encouraged. I have found from experience that children like to mimic their peers, when they see their friends able to go on their own, they usually want to try as well.
WASHROOM POLICIES
As a Caregiver, I will keep the door open to the bathroom when I am diapering or supervising children using the washroom so I can keep an eye out for the other children enrolled.
Only one child is allowed in the bathroom at a time, respect for privacy will be supported.
I do and will follow any and all Health Department guidelines for diapering and hand washing.
Children will be allowed to wash hands and brush teeth in groups of 2 or individually when there is time.
